Life-saving copywriting for iconic community hub
I volunteer as Vice President on the board of my local sports & community club, the iconic Bangalow Bowlo. Covid gobbled up every cent of our cash reserves and left us in big debt, so to avoid bankruptcy I recently strategized, wrote and art directed an entire comms campaign – which secured a 66% YES vote in a membership election to sanction a club-saving amalgamation with a not-for-profit parent club group. The losing NO vote opposition group, which fought our campaign fiercely with the help of local public figures, stated in the media that they lost because of the “relentless professional PR campaign” which was “corporately funded” by the amalgamating group.
(But I’ll tell you a secret – it was just little old copywriter me and one clever social media whizz, working for love with a tiny budget.)
